Best Mother’s Day!

Finally, our Tristan was able to come home for a home visit! It has been a l-o-n-g fourteenth-month wait. Our home became lively with our forever toddler this weekend. YouTube played his favorite songs (the same ones over and over). Sleepless nights resumed. Melissa and Doug toys were brought out of the closet. Clean-up duty was continuous. Older brother, Jacob, interacted with Tristan. He gave him a few surprise snacks. Takeout was ordered at McDonald’s! It was a blast. We attended church for the music portion of the service. We would not change one minute of our time with our forever toddler. We had a blast and can not wait for the next visit in two weeks.

Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Bored with English!

Tristan loves to watch YouTube on his tablet.   It is always the same genre of videos.  Videos with songs on Abc’s, colors, shapes, and counting!  I am grateful for all the creative video content on these topics. He is developmentally a toddler/preschooler, and he thoroughly enjoys choosing his videos.   Lately…he has discovered you can watch the same topics of videos in other languages!

Secret Code Part 2

When our 12-year-old son, A.T., joined our family in November, it was quite an adjustment.  A.T. was not familiar with autism.  We have tried our best in teaching him what autism is and who Tristan is as a person.  We know this has not been an easy adjustment.  However, the other day A.T. shared his views, and I was laughing so hard.  A.T. was sharing how he is trying hard to understand Tristan’s communications.  Here is A.T.’s insight:

Poor Tristan!

Description: I Didn't Do It!! The Dog did it.

Early Sunday morning Brian was trying to get out the door to head to church.  He woke me up asking where his shoes were.  I jumped out of bed to help him look.  We could not find them ANYWHERE. Brian asked the older boys if they had borrowed them.  They said no.  I suggested Brian go purchase another pair of shoes.  I was thinking back to summer when Tristan hid my shoes.  It took a couple of months before I discovered them in our other son’s closet.  We did not have months to wait this out!

After church during lunch, we mentioned to the older boys about the shoes.  One of them said, “Yes, I have them.  I borrowed them a few days ago.”  This child did not remember being woke up.  Poor Tristan we thought it was him.

A few days later I noticed the treadmill safety cord was missing.  I checked Tristan’s room.  I checked all the usual hiding places.  Then  I also noticed some black stretchy string was cut up.  We know Tristan loves cutting more than just paper!  We try our best to make sure the scissors stay in the kitchen.  I figured it was gone.  I ended my search.

The next day, one of the older boys appeared with the treadmill cord!  It was in their bedroom.  Poor Tristan we thought it was him.

Another healthy dose of laughter from our home to you!
