You WIll Never Guess Who Stopped By…

Tristan loves to draw on and cut paper.  Sometimes he leaves a great pile of cut paper on the kitchen floor.  Before going to bed one Friday night, Brian asked if I wanted the paper pile picked up in the kitchen.  I said, “No.  No one is coming over.  Besides Tristan will just create another pile shortly after waking up.”

The next morning we woke up early to the sound of someone knocking on our front door.  Brian jumped out of bed to see who it was.  It was a police officer wanting information on the whereabouts of a homeless man Brian had ministered to months earlier.  Brian answered the officer’s questions the best he could, then came back to bed.  After the officer left we fell back to sleep.  When I woke up, my mind raced, “Oh no! The paper pile!”  I frantically walked to the kitchen to see if someone could see the mess from the front door.  Yes they could!  Then I anxiously asked Brian, “Did you let the officer inside our home?”  He answered, “Yes.”   I wondered what the officer thought.  Brian said he almost explained to the man the paper pile but decided not too.  I guess you never know who might drop by.  In the future I will make sure to clean up the great pile of paper before we go to bed.

“Every Child Is An Artist.” Pablo Picasso

In the past few days, he has used 3 rolls of tape.  This afternoon, I gave him my last roll of tape.  Tristan has used an enormous amount of paper.  Some sheets he will cut one line and then toss it on the floor. Therefore, I am trying to recycle the recycled paper!

I guess Tristan does not want us to use the refrigerator.

I think the back door is off limits too!
I think the back door is off-limits too!

At times his art gets a little out of control.  Last week, I had to remind him to only draw on paper and not the vinyl flooring! Today I had to tell him that we do not tape bread to the window.  Sometimes it is really challenging to correct him without laughing.  I think he knows it is funny because he will start laughing… then I do too!

“Do You Feel Lucky Punk?”

Many people have asked me the conclusion of the mouse story.  I am continuing the series on “Super Mouse” and “Super Mickey, I Surrender!”.  If you have not read these posts I highly encourage you to read them. I Can’t Believe It!

images

I was so happy on Friday July 3 at 4:00 PM.  I could hardly believe my eyes.  I was cleaning and organizing my oldest son’s room when all of a sudden, I found my Nike Dual Fusion shoes!  They were behind a shelf in this closet.  Clearly our teenage son did not do this!  Tristan framed his older brother.  I picked up the shoes, and walked to the kitchen, and said, “Tristan look I found my shoes!”  He just smiled.  He knew exactly where he put them.  It just took me about a month to find them.

Tristan surprised Brian with a Father’s Day gift he made at school.  I received an envelope the last day of school and put it aside.  When Tristan saw the envelope he smiled.  Tristan is proud of what he does.  Thank you to his teacher and assistants.  This class has given the kids a chance to do gifts for Mom’s and Dad’s.  Brian really loved the sign that was made.

Is That What I Think It Is?

blackbear

I have to say I was a little taken back when I heard there have been tracks from a black bear in our county.  I thought to myself, “Great I now have to protect Tristan from a Black Bear!”  Seriously!  This is an unusual worry to have in Indiana. The last confirmed bear sighting in our State was in 1871.  How am I suppose to shout, and waves my arms, and slowly back away if I am with Tristan?  I can only imagine how difficult that task could be.  I can not imagine Tristan’s reaction to a black bear in our yard.  We all had a good chuckle thinking about this.
